Live Sound

Live Sound Reinforcement

In addition to recording work, I have worked extensively for the last 12 years a live sound engineer, systems tech, stage manager, and touring engineer.  Starting with Cloud Nine Music, I moved on to 5 years of touring with Ella Riot/My Dear Disco.   I’ve mixed countless stages for many prominent metro-Detroit sound providers as a freelance engineer, and it’s a true labor of love.  If you have a band and would like a dedicated engineer to work with you, I have worked with countless local acts to shape and improve their live sound, mix their concerts, and record their shows for release, archive, and broadcast. I am happy to work with all styles of live acts locally and on the road pending my availability. Rates for dedicated engineering are adjustable based on my schedule and your budget.  As a touring FOH engineer, I am experienced in operating many new digital systems such as Avid Venue, Digico, Soundcraft, Yamaha, and Midas.  I am familiar with and have operated most line-array systems from d+b, EV, Meyer, Nexo, JBL, Clair Bros., and Martin.

In recent years, I have partnered with THS Audio of Ann Arbor for sound reinforcement services, rentals, and engineering.  Dave Thiefels, engineer and owner, maintains a highly professional roster of equipment that is clean, presentable, and flexible enough to accommodate the smallest presentations through large outdoor festival stages and theaters.  Dave and I have worked together for over a decade, and I stand firmly behind his systems and work.  If you are in need of a sound system or would like more information, please contact me for a referral, or email Dave at thsaudio@gmail.com.

I receive many requests for small sound systems to accompany performers with tape, laptops, or effects. For these smaller acoustic projects, we provide our Mackie mixers combined with Event TR-8 studio monitors. This has been very beneficial to performers working with tape, CD, and other backing tracks common in contemporary composition. They are very low profile, transparent, powerful, and less visually distracting than larger sound systems.  For larger projects or projects exceeding these specs, I call in THS to expand the system to meet your needs.
